I guess that's just an NPR tradition, though. If YouTube stars can pull in six figures, you'd think Serial should be able to support itself without soliciting donations. WHO ARE THE PEOPLE LISTENING TO THE SOUNDTRACK?īecause it's only a public radio podcast, Serial hasn't financially capitalized on its success as much as you might think given how popular it is. But "Did Adnan do it?" is only one of several pressing questions we have as we get ready for Thursday's final episode. Hosted by veteran investigative reporter and TAL contributor Sarah Koenig, the show has focused on one story-her quest to unpack the 1999 murder of Baltimore high school student Hae Min Lee-posing one central question: Did Adnan Syed, the victim's ex-boyfriend who was convicted of the murder, actually do it? Koenig has taken us on a circuitous tour through her investigation of the case, but with only one episode left to go, we're still not much closer to any sort of resolution than we were when the show premiered in October. Tomorrow This American Life will release the final episode of Serial, which over the course of the past two-plus months has become the most culturally significant podcast of all time (and it's not even close). ![]()
